NEUROGIN®
Neurotropic & Microcriculation Enhancer.
Composition:
Each capsule contains Ginkgo biloba standard leaf
extract (EGB 761) 60 mg.
Phytochemistry:
European preparation, Ginkgo biloba leaf extract EGb 761 (Tebonin, by Schwabe; Tanakan, by Ipsen) is well supported in more than 300 clinical and experimental studies utilizing the extract. It is a special concentrated standardized extract that allows the concentration of active constituents and elimination of undesirable substances.
The extract (EGb 761) is standardized to contain 24% flavonoid glycosides and 6% terpene lactone. The flavonoid glycosides consist of quercetin and kaempferol.The terpene lactone consist of Ginkgolides (2.8-3.4 %) A, B and C, Bilobalide (2.6-3.2 %) and Ginkgolic acid (<5 ppm).
Pharmacological actions:
On Tissue
EGb 761 has membrane stabilizing, antioxidant and free radical scavenging effects. It also enhances the utilization of oxygen and glucose. EGb 761 leads to better membrane polarization which is important in excitable tissues, such as brain and nerve cells.
On Blood Vessel
EGb 761 exerts vasodilation action by direct stimulation of the release of endothelium derived relaxing factor and prostacyclin.
On Platelet
EGb 761 contains ginkgolides those have been shown to be potent inhibitors of platelet activating factor (PAF).

1. Cerebral vascular insufficiency
- Stroke (ischemic type)

3. Peripheral vascular insufficiency

Side Effects : EGb 761 is extremely safe and
very few side effect like mild gastrointestinal upset (e.g nausea,
heartburn, vomiting), headache, dizziness and allergic skin reaction.
Caution : Should not be used under 12 years of age.
Contraindication : Hypersensitivity to EGb
761.
Drug interaction : It should not be used together with other
anti-platelet agents such as aspirin and dipyridamol to avoid bleeding
tendency.
Dosage : Recommended daily dose is 120 mg.
Take one capsule (60mg) two times a day before meal. Patient with peptic
ulcer should take after meal to avoid unnecessary pain in epigastrium.
How supply :
• 10 capsules in one strip, 3 strips per box.
• Also available as 30 capsules bottle.
