Fameflu®
Natural Medicine For Infuerza
Star anise fruit has been used in Traditional Chinese Medicine since
thousands of years ago. Recently Roche, a Swiss Pharmaceutical Company,
discovered the active compound inside the fruit called oseltamivir which
is the only available medicine for treatment of influenza. FAME has also
developed the extraction method to have antiviral compounds for
influenza and the product is known as “Fameflu®”.
Composition : Each tablet contains
Star anise standard extract .................... 200 mg.
Plant Description : Star anise (Illicium verum)
is native to Southern China, Northern Myanmar and Vietnam. It is a small
tree having the unusual star-shaped fruit, radiating between five and
ten pointed boat-shaped sections, about eight on average.
Phytochemistry : The active principle to fight
influenza is shikimic acid contained within, the substance that is basis
of Tamiflu. The plant extract has inhibitory effect on influenza virus
neuraminidase with the possibility of alteration of virus particle
aggregation and release.
Indication : For treatment of influenza virus
infection.
Contraindication : Fameflu® is not indicated in children under 2 years
of age. It should not be used in pregnancy and lactation due to lack of
clinical safety data.
Dosage : For treatment in patient suspected
influenza;
12 years and above, one tablet two times daily for at least five days
2-11 years, ˝ tablet two times daily for at least five days.
Treatment should start within 48 hours of onset of symptoms. Fameflu®
may be taken with or without food. However, patient with peptic ulcer
and other stomach problem should take after meal.
Side Effect :Mild allergic reaction,
gastrointestinal disturbance in some individual.
How Supply : 10 tablets in one blister
packing, in one secondary box.
